If you took a casserole pan, please return your frozen casserole to the Parish freezer by Sunday, October 5th. If you have any questions, please contact Bob at crhoopert@zoominternet.net.
Sewing Day
Our next sewing day is scheduled for Wednesday, October 15. We are always in need of donations of cotton material and fleece. As you are cleaning out for fall housecleaning, please note that we give Dr. Walsh used eyeglasses and sunglasses. Thank you!!
Food Pantry
(CLICK HERE FOR PICTURES!) Due to the generosity of the parish, the food pantry served 69 people in September. We served 18 families, which included 6 diabetics and 23 children. We are very grateful that the revised pantry space allowed us to pre-sort and package, and be prepared for that many families before Saturday morning. We are grateful for the number of volunteers who help to sort the food on shopping day and distribute the food when the pantry is open.
Thank you to those who donated lots of food, snacks, and paper goods this month, and thank you for the large boxes of items left on the bench in the hall vestibule!!
The food pantry will be closed in November and December because of the large food drives for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We will be giving our “customers” holiday items in October. For the month of October, we are asking for boxes of instant potatoes, stuffing mix, cranberry, sweet potatoes, gravy mixes and canned gravy (please no glass jars of gravy), and other holiday items. We are also requesting paper products, including toilet paper and especially paper towels.
The food pantry will be open on Saturday, October 18, from 10-11am.
Operation Christmas Child
St. Mary’s will again participate in the Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child project this year. As you shop for school supplies and visit flea markets, please consider what items you can put in the shoe boxes. We are not allowed to send soap this year. Shoe boxes will be distributed after Masses in October.
If you don’t have the time to fill a shoe box but use the computer, you may fill a shoe box online. These shoe boxes go to special locations. We also welcome donations for shipping. The cost is $10.00 per box. Please make checks payable to Operation Christmas child.
St. Mary’s filled 265 shoe boxes of the 10,441 shoe boxes filled in Harford County, Maryland. Thank you!!
