Advent Fair & Pancake Breakfast, Sunday, November 21 in the Parish Center. Mark your calendars for our Advent Fair and Pancake Breakfast which will take place after all Masses on Sunday Nov. 21. Come enjoy a pancake breakfast prepared by our Youth Ministry Teens and Adults to benefit our summer service Catholic Heart Work Camp trip to serve in New jersey!! Christmas Shoppe Donations Wanted! Please consider donating any gently used or new items to the Children's Christmas Shoppe for the Advent Fair, which will be held on November 21. The children will be "purchasing" gifts, so we need small gift bags and items that would be appropriate for moms and dads. COVID- 19 Reminder. If you test positive for COVID-19 after attending activities, including Mass, at St. Mary's, please contact the parish office. The Archdiocese requires us to notify those who attended the same activity of the potential contact. Your identity is protected during the notification process.
Our Path Forward - 2021 and Beyond. We begin our annual stewardship initiative this weekend. Our Path Forward – 2021 and Beyond is a fitting theme as we recover from a challenging year and look toward the future.
I do not enter into stewardship lightly. I know there may be those of you who have been impacted in ways I am not aware. If our parish can assist, please reach out. As in years past, to continue the outreach and engagement our community is known for I must ask parish members, THAT ARE ABLE, to prayerfully reflect on their annual offertory gifts and move forward on the path of your personal stewardship journey.
This is a necessary opportunity for us all to support our parish ministries and mission. I’m requesting for each one of us to take an active role in prayerfully practicing the principle of stewardship; giving back a portion of our blessings to God. If you are not able to do so, please pray for the success of our community and consider giving back gifts of your time and talent to one of our many valued ministries.
We will be holding our Stewardship Commitment Weekend on November 13-14. In the meantime, please prayerfully consider how you will participate. We have mailed a prayer postcard with a QR code link to the Our Path Forward web page www.opfaob.com where you may find more information, support our parish through offertory contributions and even support our parish endowment fund.

Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday Food Projects. We are returning to our traditional process of using the Parish hall for sorting and distributing the groceries.

Donations to Thanksgiving Food Drive, November 13-14, before all Masses. St. Mary’s will continue to provide vouchers to each of the families that are assigned to us by Mason-Dixon Community Services. The vouchers are funded by the special collections that St. Mary’s takes up for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. The vouchers will be redeemable at the local Saubel’s store in Whiteford.
We will be collecting groceries for Thanksgiving before each Mass on the weekend of November 13-14.
As we did last year under COVID, we are not going to distribute grocery bags with the colorful tags with the needed grocery items. We’re going to follow the process that worked successfully for us last year.

Our Daily Bread, Pan distribution, November 6-7 after Masses. It's time for casseroles again! Casserole pans will be made available for pickup after each Mass (while supplies last) on the weekend of Nov. 6 & 7. Since we need to limit our number of casseroles, please only use these pans.
Please understand the importance of returning the frozen casseroles so that we can help ODB to serve their clients. We will be depending on everyone who takes a pan to return the frozen casseroles to the Parish freezer by Sunday, November 14.
You can find the recipes on the ODB below. Just choose a recipe, follow the recipe as it is written, double wrap the casserole with foil, label it with the type of casserole and the date, and freeze it. If you choose to do a mac + cheese casserole, please be sure to follow ODB's mac + cheese recipe. Please do not include ham or any meat.
The frozen casseroles must be placed in the Parish freezer by November 14. We'll also collect any homemade face masks that you'd like to donate. If you have any questions, please contact Bob at crhoopert@zoominternet.net.
Operation Christmas Child. The shoe boxes are still available. We will be collecting them the weekends of Nov. 13-14 and Nov. 20-21 with final delivery to William Watters Church on Sunday, Nov. 21. Thank you for your generosity for this wonderful project.
Please check the Samaritan’s Purse web site for the benefits to filling a shoe box online. Those shoe boxes are delivered to “closed” countries.

Prevention and Recovery Ministry
Evidence-based Harm Reduction strategies can help to keep people alive. Wearing seatbelts is a harm reduction strategy. Relating to drug use, they can help to prevent the spread of infectious diseases through needle exchange programs. They can provide education about overdose prevention and they can provide referrals to social, mental health, and other medical services. The use of Narcan/naloxone can reverse opioid drug overdoses. When folks are ready, these strategies can help lead them into treatment and recovery programs. We found 2 links that cover the same story.

Worthy of the Call Training is for any of our teens who are 14 – 17 years of age and would like to volunteer for a ministry ie: (Altar serving, Sacristan, Lector, Usher, Music Ministry, Faith Formation Classroom Helper, VBS, Boy Scouts, Parish Events and Fundraisers, Outreach and Service Ministries). Any student 14 and older is welcome. Teens must complete this training to volunteer in Parish Events and ministries. Please email Mrs. Rachel. Catholic Heart Work camp Update. We will be serving in North Haledon New Jersey the week of July 17-22, 2022. Work Camp is open to students ages 14 -17 in Middle or High School and Young Adults. All students must have Worthy of the Call Training to volunteer and any one 18 and over must complete the online Virtus Child Protection Training w/substantial contact. Dare to Care Forms are available online, in the vestibule of Church or Youth Ministry Bulletin Boards in the Hall and Youth Room. To reserve your spot you need to return a completed Dare to Care Form with a $100 non-refundable deposit due by Jan. 1st. The total cost is $300.00. Invite a friend and join us for Turkey Bowling!! Respect Life
St. Mary's Respect Life Ministry joyfully reports that we collected $2758 for BirthRight Crisis Pregnancy Center and the Gabriel Network. Each lifesaving organization will receive $1379. May God bless all of you for your wonderful generosity.
Spiritual Adoption of Unborn Children begins in November. Please adopt an unborn child and pray for that child during the 9 months of Spiritual Adoption. Name your child so you can pray for the baby by name. Pledge cards are available in a basket in the back of the church. Post the pledge card in a prominent place in your home as a reminder to pray for the unborn child. Your prayers can save a life.
During the parish’s Spiritual Adoption program the Respect Life Committee displays the beautiful “Little One” posters in the church and on the St. Mary’s website. A different poster is displayed each month to draw our attention and prayers to the maturation progress of the babies in danger of being aborted. Below is the text from the first month poster so that you can track the development of the new little pre-born infant for whom you are praying daily.
November – First Month (size: about ¼ inch) At fertilization a new human life begins, complete with his or her own unique set of DNA, which is present from the first day of life. The new little person’s sex is also determined from the beginning. During this first amazing month of life the baby grows to 10,000 times his size at conception. By the third week the baby’s heart begins to beat.
